Kindercamp (3-5 years)

Kindercamp

Each day of Kindercamp for preschoolers is filled with fun activities. Each themed session is filled arts & crafts, group games, and songs. Children play in our safe, well supervised outside playground and swim in our zero-depth outdoor pool. Our qualified staff provides a loving and attentive atmosphere at a ratio of 1:10. Children do not need to be fully potty trained to attend this camp. New this year, an extra hour has been added to the camp day for lunch. Please refer to the parent handbook to see what your child should bring to camp each day. This camp is held at the Devon Drive Facility. Children must be 3 by January 1, 2010.

Day Camp ( 6-12 years)

Day Camp

Our Day Camp offers children a wide variety of new experiences mixed with the traditional camp favorites of swimming, sports, nature and science, and arts and crafts. Children will enjoy a different theme each session. Field trips and special events emphasize weekly themes.

  • A recreational swim is offered every day for all campers.
  • Swim lessons are scheduled for all Pathfinders and Trailblazers four days a week.
  • Lessons for all others may be scheduled outside of camp.
  • Swim lessons are not available during Post sessions.

Each group consists if approximately 30 children with a 15:1 camper to counselor ratio. Boys and girls are grouped separately.

Adventure Rangers

This camp will keep your child busy! Two days a week are travel days to local “hot spots” in the Philadelphia Area. Three days are at the Y engaged in activities such as group games/sports, science/nature, music/drama, and swimming.

Teen Adventure (13-15 years)
This camp is jammed with fun-filled trips to popular locations each week. Dorney Park, Ozzie’s Sports and Fun Center, Northbrook Canoe, and other entertaining locations are on the schedule. One day each week is spent at the YMCA.

Teen Leader ( 12-15 years)
This camp provides teens with a two-fold leadership opportunity. One occurs at the YMCA and the other is in the community. Projects will focus on decision-making, community service, and character development.

Future Leader (15-17 years)
This camp provides teens with a service project, job search assistance and leadership opportunities. One service project will occur at the YMCA and the other will take place in the community. Projects will focus on decision-making, community service, and character development. The last aspect will focus on resume writing, job searching and interviewing. Representatives from local businesses that hire teens will come to camp to offer their advice on skills and qualities employers look for in prospective employees.

Arts and Humanities

Arts and Humanities

Traditionally known as places to learn how to swim or make a jump shot, YMCAs are rapidly becoming the places where kids and adults learn to paint, write, sing, dance or act. All Arts camps run from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM with an extended care option. All camps include a recreational swim unless otherwise noted.

Build It, Paint It and Create It (6-12 years)
Explore the stimulating world of Art. If you love to draw, paint or doodle, then these camps are for you. Learn the fundamentals of design, light and color to create still life, portrait, figure, landscape design and more. Spend time working with a variety of media while learning about mass, shape relationships, elements of composition and color theory. Projects and activities are age appropriate within the camp. Please pack old clothing, as many projects include the use of paint. Every week is a different theme and different projects.

Lights, Camera and Action (6 - 12 years)
Ham it up this summer! This two-week camp offers acting experience, choreography, and set design. Campers practice techniques that will enable them to become better performers in order to nail that all-important audition! Each session concludes with two performances. Both will occur during the second week of camp, one at 5:30pm on Thursday for parents and the other at 3:30pm on Friday for fellow campers. Each session will cover various genres, from fairy tales to musicals to plays. We will even tackle some Shakespeare!

Nature

Nature Camps

All off-site nature camps run from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. No extended care option for nature camps. All Nature camps include a daily recreational swim unless otherwise noted.

Tracks and Trails (6-12 years)
Visit and explore the natural world. This camp is held at Marsh Creek State Park. Search for native critters, explore stream and lake habitats, learn about local birds, hike on trails, and participate in games and projects. There will be pool or water exploration each day. Each Camper will receive a backpack containing outdoor exploring supplies. The camp day runs from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Drop off is at the park.

Fishing (6-12 years)

Enjoy everyday outdoor fun at Marsh Creek State Park. Campers learn the basics of this lifelong sport including catching and releasing, casting, pole lining, reading the water and baiting. Camp also includes outdoor games and nature themed crafts. Rods, reels and stocked tackle boxes are included for first time campers. The camp day runs from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Drop off is at the park. A recreational swim is included each day.

Meet the counselors and see the camp Join us on Thursday June 11th @ 6pm at Marsh Creek State Park playground across from the pool. Marsh Creek State Park is located at 675 Park Road, Exton which is about 5 miles from the YMCA.

Sports Camps

Our summer sports programming goes beyond teaching tactics and skills by weaving in important fitness and character development concepts. The programs are game planned to promote fun, improve skills and learn fair play. Campers are divided into age appropriate groups on the first day of camp.

Little Golfers ( 3 to 6 years)
FORE! Swing like Tiger Woods. Children will learn the basics of golf. Skills covered include the basic swing and putting.

Kids will have tons of fun at this camp while they start their love of t-ball.  Catching, throwing, running and hitting basics will be developed while having fun on the field.

Tumbling/Cheerleading Camp ( 3-6 years)
Campers will learn basic skills of both gymnastics and cheerleading such as jumping, rolling, and tumbling. Apparatus such as turning bar and balance beam will also be included. Campers will also explore other movements through music and rhythms.

All Sports (6-12 years)
Campers learn and refine their skills by participating in age appropriate games and drills for two different sports each day. All Sports camp focuses on fun, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Basketball, soccer, football, and baseball are played along with a variety of other sports such as lacrosse, tennis and ultimate frisbee.

Learn to take it to the rim this summer. Sportsmanship and the fundamental skills of the game are covered including dribbling, passing, and shooting. Game techniques and strategies are taught through age-appropriate drills and progressive games.

Baseball/Softball Camp (6-12 years)
Knock one out of the park this summer at Baseball Camp. Learn the skills and strategy of playing “America’s favorite pastime”. Improve skills through age appropriate drills and games including hitting, fielding and base running. As in any YMCA Camp, sportsmanship, teamwork and fundamentals are emphasized.

GO TEAM!!! Any boy or girl who has watched sports will notice that one thing every game has is cheerleaders. If you would like to learn to cheer or brush up on some of the necessary skills such as tumbling, jumping, and dancing, then this is the camp for you.

Field Hockey Camp teaches campers the game and skills used in field hockey. Join us to practice skills such as the push, hit, scoop and scoring.

Flag Football Camp (6-12 years)
Score a touchdown this summer at our flag football camp. Campers will practice skills necessary to play football at the youth level. Some of the skills that will be introduced are route running and defensive strategies. Sportsmanship and teamwork will be emphasized during his camp.

FORE! At golf camp campers will not become Tiger Woods but they will learn the basics of the golf swing. Some of the skills that will be taught include driving, putting, and chipping. Campers will also be taught proper golf etiquette.

Lacrosse Camp (6-12 years)
Join the YMCA lacrosse camp. Lacrosse is a fast growing sport that uses hand-eye coordination to learn and practice skills such as the cradle, passing and shooting. Come practice and refine your skills.

YMCA soccer camp teaches and refines the fundamental skills needed to excel at soccer. Dribbling, passing, shooting and goal keeping are practiced in addition to fun, age appropriate drills and plenty of game time. Full Member $296.00 Program Member $330.00

Serve it up with our tennis camp. Campers will learn the basics of the strokes and work on the fundamentals of the game. Age appropriate drills will be used to practice skills that are learned. AQUATICS

Aqua Adventure (8-14 years)
Want to know what it takes to be a lifeguard or a swim instructor? Then this is the camp for you. Through games and activities campers will learn techniques used by both lifeguards and swim instructors. Each day campers will focus on experiences which allow them to practice what they learn. Each Friday, campers will travel to a local water park for a day of fun in the water.

Other Specialty

 

Babysitting Camp (11-15 years)
Valuable information for mother’s helpers and babysitters. Campers spend half the day learning activities and games to do with infants, toddlers and older children. Also they will learn basic emergency care. The rest of the day will be spent taking the American Red Cross babysitting course. Each camper will receive an American Red Cross handbook and certification card.
