UMLY Swimmers 2nd in the Nation

Berwyn, PA — UMLY Swimmers garnered second place at the YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championships. Thirty UMLY athletes joined more than 1100 swimmers representing 131 YMCA teams at the 4-day event at the University of Maryland in August.

Evan Reed came home a three time National Champion for wins in the 50, 100 and 200 Meter Freestyle events. Stephanie Roop was the gold medallist in the 1500M Freestyle and Stephanie Shupe placed first in the 50M Butterfly. Other standout performances include silver medal finishes by David Smoker, 200M Butterfly and Stephanie Roop, 800M Freestyle. Fourth Place finishers include Anna Munger, 50M Freestyle and Roop, 400M Freestyle. Smoker also swam to a fifth in the 100M Butterfly. Eric McEnelly stroked his way to a sixth in the 200M Breaststroke. Andrew Stoker, 100M Butterfly and McEnelly, 100M Breaststroke each placed seventh. Eighth place finishers include Stephanie Naylor for the 50M Breaststroke and Roop for the 200M Freestyle.

Other Finalists (9 th to 16 th place) include: Stephanie Shupe, 10 th, 100M Butterfly; Andrew Stoker, 11 th, 50 Fly; Stephanie Shupe, 11 th, 100 Free; Anna Munger, 12 th, 100 Free; Megan Harvey, 13 th, 200 Free; Evan Reed, 14 th, 100 Back; Laura Graesser, 14 th, 400 IM; Stephanie Shupe, 14th, 50 Free; Kristen Keenan, 16 th, 50 Free.
