UPPER MAIN LINE YMCA RECEIVES
$1,000 GRANT FROM HUGGIES® LITTLE SWIMMERS®
TO
STRENGTHEN PARENT-CHILD SWIM ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
One of 100 YMCAs nationwide selected
to receive funding to support local outreach efforts
YMCA of the USA and Huggies® Little Swimmers®, a product
of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, have awarded the Upper Main
Line YMCA a $1,000 grant to enhance its parent-child swim outreach
initiatives for the upper main line community.
The gift is one of 100 grants of $1,000 each awarded by Huggies
Little Swimmers to YMCAs across the country to initiate or enhance
the YMCA Parent/Child Aquatic Enrichment Program – designed
for children from 6 to 36 months old.
“Huggies Little Swimmers’ support helps the Upper
Main Line YMCA continue to provide a vital program to the community,” said
Charlie Weidanz, Branch Executive Director. “In addition
to helping young children explore and adjust to a water environment,
YMCA parent/child aquatics enrichment helps foster a love of
water that can have a positive, life-long impact.”
Recognizing that the parent or guardian is the first and best
teacher of the child, the primary objectives of YMCA parent/child
aquatic programs are to promote water enrichment and water readiness
activities and help strengthen and support families. “YMCA
parent/child aquatic programs provide parents with vital water
safety information, and allows the family the opportunity to
spend uninterrupted time and experience a special closeness with
their child,” said Instructional Aquatics Director Kristin
Whitehead. “YMCA parent/child aquatic programs also give
parents the chance to socialize, share their experiences, make
new friends and learn from other parents.”
As a YMCA corporate partner, Kimberly Clark supports Activate
America®, the YMCA’s bold approach to directly address
the nation’s growing health crisis, and its key components:
YMCA organizational transformation efforts to better serve individuals
and families, YMCA Healthy Kids® Day and the Pioneering Healthier
Communities initiative.
Since their founding, YMCAs have been helping families build
stronger bonds, achieve greater work/life balance and become
more engaged with their communities. Today, millions of families
participate in YMCA programs, with nearly 900 YMCAs offering
family-specific programs, including parent-child swim, family
fitness, family camp and Adventure Guides or similar programs
that have been bringing parents and children together since 1926.
