UMLY Gymnastics Team Participates in Woman’s Day Armed Services YMCA Holiday Drive

Berwyn, PA – The Upper Main Line YMCA girls gymnastics team is helping make the holidays brighter for thousands of military families by participating in the Woman’s Day Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) holiday drive. The gymnastic team is collecting money to provide holiday food baskets and Christmas presents for service members’ families in need.

The team undertook the ASYMCA effort because in the last year, three of its coaches, Erika Davis, Kim Craig, and Jessica Sombke) married men who are in the armed service. “Community service is important for the gymnastics team and this project is close and dear to our hearts since three of our coaches are now in military families,” says Lynn Gosnell, a gymnastics team member mom and coordinator of the effort.

The ASYMCA is dedicated to helping all junior enlisted service members in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard and the Reserves and their families. Every penny the group collects goes to providing food and gifts for families in need on military bases across the nation.

If you would like to make a donation to the ASYMCA drive, please contact Curtis Lee, YMCA Gymnastics Director, at 610-647-2510.

With branches at each end of the Conestoga Trail, the YMCA of the Upper Main Line has been serving the community with programs and services to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities since 1962.
