At the YMCA, what happens off the field is just as important as what happens on the field. Our sports programs help young people grow personally, clarify values, improve relationships, appreciate diversity, develop leadership skills and have fun.

Youth Sports Classes

Preschool Instructional Programs (up to 4 years)

Our Instructors and Coaches help guide the child through classes which are designed to help build gross motor skills, social interaction, and develop coordination by doing a series of drills and cardiovascular exercise.  Through fun and enriching experiences in sports, the development of character starts to unfold. Examples of classes are:

Bouncing Babies
This parent/child class for introduces young children (10-23 months) to gymnastics to help develop motor development skills through gymnastics with a parents help. It will help increase strength, coordination and balance.

Parent/Child Sports Kids and their parent(s) explore the basic movements and skills of sports such as tumbling, dribbling, throwing, catching, and hitting. Fun games work on coordination and balance.

Tiny Tumblers For first timers who want to experience the art of movement while balancing on a gym apparatus.

Intro to Sports Experience all sports such as soccer, basketball, hockey, and much more.

Youth Instructional Programs (4 years and up)

These classes are to help the child to enhance their knowledge of sports. Through an array of exercises, games, and drills the child will develop sport skills. Along with building a Healthy Spirit, Mind and Body there will be exciting fun for every participant. Examples of classes are:

All Sports Learn the basics and then play. Sports include but are not limited to soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and tennis.

Basketball This class is for the kid that loves basketball and wants to improve their skills

Cheernastics This class introduces cheerleading and gymnastics skills and includes an introduction to the beam, bar and basic tumbling skills. Beginner cheers and chants will also be taught.

Lacrosse Children learn the basic skills in the fastest growing sport around.

Little Dribblers An introduction to soccer and basketball. Kids develop hand-eye and foot coordination through relays, games and practice.

Little Stickers This variety class introduces the basics of lacrosse, floor hockey, and field hockey. Includes fun drills and games.

Mighty Might Sports Kids develop throwing, catching and striking skills through a progression of activities without the aid of their parents.

Preschool Gymnastics For the first time without their parents, children are introduced to gym apparatus such as bars and balance beam.

Soccer Learn how to make soccer moves, dribble, score goals, and much more with our soccer sessions or team up with a friend and play in a league.

T-Ball This class emphasizes teaching the fundamentals of catching, throwing, batting and base running through fun drills and games.

Tennis Kids learn n introduction to tennis fundamentals including stroke development and game strategy.

Softball Pitching Clinic Learn the basics of the fast pitch softball pitching motion. Skills are learned using a combination of drills and live pitching. Students will work in circuits consisting of drills and full out pitching. Parents are welcome to catch for their child.

Youth Baseball Hitting and fielding fundamentals along with rules and strategy are introduced.

Youth Field Hockey Learn stick handling and how to shoot, pass, and move around defenders.

Kids (4 to 6) have fun in all our sports leagues. They learn and develop basic skills and values through healthy competition and teamwork. We offer a number of different sports throughout the year including:
