What is YMCA Earth Service Corps?
YMCA Earth Service Corps is a national service-learning program for teens ready to make a difference in their communities. Grounded on the building blocks of leadership development, environmental education, action, and cross-cultural awareness, this proven program works in diverse communities and allows teens to use their talents, develop new skills and learn more about themselves and their surroundings. Most importantly, young people in Earth Service Corps are recognized as valuable resources who work hand-in-hand with others to solve important issues.
The YMCA Earth Service Corps at the Upper Main Line YMCA dedicates its service toward spreading awareness in the local community of biodiversity in the tri-state area, preservation and creation of wildlife habitat, and local species that are at risk. YESC members take part in service projects on the YMCA property and off-site. Adventure trips and local field trips give YESC members the opportunity to experience ecosystems outside of our own neighborhood, from New Jersey to as far away as the Rocky Mountains. Leadership development, outdoor adventure, and service to the environment is the core mission of our YMCA Earth Service Corps.
